OAKLAND DANCE TEAM FINISHES 10TH AT UDA NATIONALS
They finished 10th in both the Hip Hop and Jazz routines, just missing finals.
ORLANDO, Fla. - The Oakland Dance team competed at the UDA College National Championship this past Saturday, finishing 10th in both the Division I Jazz and Hip Hop routines. The Golden Grizzlies barely missed qualifying for the finals of the Jazz competition, finishing 0.14 points away from the moving on to the championship round.
"The team went out there and gave it their all," said first-year dance coach Beth Tomaszewski. "They performed Jazz with elegance and poise leaving nothing left unsaid and entertained the crowd with their upbeat, dynamic hip hop routine. The team learned a lot about each other and what we need to do for next year to make it to the finals."
A total of 17 teams competed in the semifinals of the Jazz routine, with the top nine advancing to the finals. For the Hip Hop competition, 6 of 12 teams made the finals.
