ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Jenna Bekker has joined the strength and conditioning staff, announced on Monday by Director of Strength and Conditioning Terry Sauerbry. Bekker joins the Golden Grizzlies after spending the past two seasons at Tennessee Tech.

“Jenna’s knowledge, work ethic and experience will be an asset to Oakland Athletics," said Sauerbry. "Her passion for the student-athletes and their overall physical performance aligns well with our ethos and she will be a positive role model for all our athletes.”

At Tennessee Tech, Bekker worked primarily with the women's basketball, softball, women's soccer and women's track and field programs, while also assisting with football workouts. She was also the school's main instructor for Olympic and power lifting techniques.

Prior to TTU, she worked at her alma mater Washington State during the 2013-14 season. At WSU, she designed and implemented the strength and conditioning workouts for the men's and women's cheer and dance teams. Bekker also assisted with the workouts with men's and women's basketball, baseball and track and field. With the Cougars, she assisted the strength and conditioning staff in implementing workouts for volleyball, men's and women's basketball, rowing, cheer, soccer, baseball and swimming.

A native of Centurion, South Africa, Bekker was a member of the swim team at Washington State where she graduated with a degree in kinesiology in 2013. She was a four-time letterwinner for the Cougars and a two-time captain, while also being named to the Pac-12 Conference All-Academic Team twice and was a four-time WSU All-Academic Team honoree. Bekker twice competed at the South African Olympic Trials in 2008 and 2012 in freestyle. She later earned her master's degree in sports management from Tennessee Tech in 2016.

Bekker is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and is certified through USA Weightlifting and CrossFit.
