OAKLAND NAMES COLIN MACDONALD DIRECTOR OF VIDEO CONTENT SERVICES
MacDonald will be responsible for overseeing the production of all athletic multimedia content including promotional packages and live streaming production
ROCHESTER, Mich. – Oakland University has named Colin MacDonald Director of Video Content Services announced by Deputy Athletic Director, Padraic McMeel. MacDonald will be responsible for overseeing the production of all athletic multimedia content including promotional packages and live streaming production.
“We are excited to have Colin join the Golden Grizzlies family,” said McMeel. “As a former student-athlete, Colin brings a fresh, forward-thinking mind set to our video operations and productions with a focus on promoting our student-athletes and the Oakland Athletics brand.”
MacDonald was a four-year student-athlete at Ashland University where he competed on the diving team.
Prior to Oakland, MacDonald was the Digital Broadcasting Assistant at Coastal Carolina University where he shot and created original video content for all nineteen of the Chanticleers’ athletic programs. He has extensive experience in creating introduction videos, in-game elements, social media campaigns, press conference coverage and constructing all post-game highlights for GoCCUSports.com. MacDonald was also responsible for the setup of broadcasting tools prior to live stream events and operating Daktronics video boards throughout the production of athletic events. In 2016, MacDonald was awarded the “Story with Video of the Year” by the CoSIDA Fred Stabley Sr. writing contest.
Before his time in South Carolina, MacDonald spent time at the University of Detroit Mercy serving as the Athletic Communications Assistant where he again created and shot video content for all of Detroit Mercy’s athletic programs. At Detroit Mercy MacDonald gained experience commentating, where he served as the play by play commentator for numerous sports teams and acted as the color commentator for women’s basketball. He was responsible for the development and launching of new social media strategies that promoted Detroit Mercy’s athletic department.
The East Lansing, Mich. native began his career at WLNS-TV (a CBS affiliate) recording and editing highlights for numerous high schools, Michigan State University and the Detroit Lions. MacDonald graduated from Ashland University in 2014 with a degree in Sport Communication and Marketing.
