"We are excited about the record growth of our season ticket base. The response from the Oakland community has been truly amazing," Fleming said. "With strong home schedules for both men's and women's basketball, tickets are in demand. We encourage all fans to come watch some great basketball and enjoy a tremendous game day experience."
Greg Kampe enters his 33rd season at the helm and returns three starters, along with eight newcomers to this year's squad. The Golden Grizzlies posted their highest finish in three years of Horizon League competition, finishing second a season ago, and competed in postseason play for the seventh time in eight seasons last year, falling in the inaugural Vegas 16 championship game. The 23 wins was the most since winning 25 in 2010-11 and tied for fourth-most in school history.
Oakland men's basketball will play an exhibition game on Monday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. against Grand Valley State before hosting Bowling Green in the season opener on Nov. 11, the first of four straight home games.
Jeff Tungate enters his fourth season as head coach of Oakland women's basketball and has his most experienced team with 10 of 14 players being upperclassmen. The Golden Grizzlies are slated for 14 home games during their 2016-17 campaign and will open at the O'rena on Monday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. against Marygrove College.
