OAKLAND NAMES CHARLIE TORTORICI COMPLIANCE COORDINATOR
Tortorici comes to Oakland from Wisconsin-Parkside
ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Oakland University Athletics has named Charlie Tortorici to the compliance staff, announced by Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance Mari Rakijas on Friday. Tortorici, a native of Stuart, Fla., will assist in the day-to-day compliance matters, monitoring financial aid and ensuring eligibility for student-athletes with NCAA, Horizon League and Oakland University rules.
"We are very excited to add Charlie to our staff," said Rakijas. "He brings an enthusiastic, passionate attitude to the team and I have complete confidence that he will assist in our efforts to promote an atmosphere of compliance and enhance the student-athlete experience."
Prior to Oakland, Tortorici spent time in compliance at Wisconsin-Parkside where he assisted with athlete eligibility certification for prospective and transfer student-athletes. Before Wisconsin-Parkside, he also spent time at the National Sports Law Institute and the Florida Panthers. He also has legal experience at four different departments in the state of Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
Tortorici, who graduated from Marquette University Law School in 2017 with a Sports Law Certificate from the National Sports Law Institute, earned his bachelor's degree in sport management with a minor in business administration from the University of Florida in 2013.
