Bekker comes to Oakland from Tennessee Tech
At TTU, Bekker worked primarily with the women's basketball, softball, women's soccer and women's track and field programs, while also assisting with football workouts. She was also the school's main instructor for Olympic and power lifting techniques.
Prior to Tennessee Tech, she worked as an intern at Washington State in 2013-14. At WSU, she designed and implemented the strength and conditioning workouts for the men's and women's cheer and dance teams. Bekker also assisted with the workouts with men's and women's basketball, baseball and track and field. As a Student Intern with the Cougars, she assisted the strength and conditioning staff in implementing workouts for volleyball, men's and women's basketball, rowing, cheer, soccer, baseball and swimming.
The native of Centurion, South Africa competed as a student-athlete on the swimming team at Washington State where she graduated with a degree in kinesiology in 2013. She was a four-time letterwinner for the Cougars and was a two-time captain, while also being named a two-time Pac-12 Conference All-Academic Team selection and a four-time WSU All-Academic Team honoree. Bekker twice competed at the South African Olympic Trials in 2008 and 2012 in freestyle. She later earned her master's degree in sports management from Tennessee Tech in 2016.
Bekker is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA, is certified through USA Weightlifting and CrossFit.
