Rakijas comes to Oakland from Eastern Michigan
Prior to Oakland, Rakijas served as the Assistant Director of Compliance at Eastern Michigan University in 2016 where she developed a new tracking system to ensure all incoming student-athletes completed their required tasks prior to arriving on campus and monitored all recruiting and eligibility for all sports. She also drafted waivers in all areas to benefit student-athletes and the institution.
Rakijas spent a year at the University of Michigan as the Compliance Services Intern reviewing and updating compliance policies and procedures while monitoring CARA/recruiting for all 31 sports.
She also served as the Compliance Intern to the Deputy Athletics Director at Johns Hopkins University for two years (2013-15) helping drafted proposed NCAA DIII legislation and wrote a proposal to add women's lacrosse to the Big Ten as an affiliate member.
During her time in law school, Rakijas prepared NFL painkiller and NHL concussion class action lawsuits for discovery, trial, and settlement while also serving as a Law Clerk at Silverman, Thompson and White.
Rakijas graduated Cum Laude from the University of Baltimore School of Law with a Juris Doctorate in 2015 and earned a bachelor of arts degree in international relations from American University in 2012.
Rakijas is a native of Yorba Linda, Calf. and resides in Canton, Mich.
