CHICAGO -- Grace Shinske, Takara Martin, Holly Morren and Katie Colwell broke the school record in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:39.81 as the Oakland men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed in the opening day of completion at the 2017 Horizon League Championships at Flames Natatorium.
Winning the men's 200 medley relay title was the team of Paul Huch, Tony Eriksson, Tuomas Kiviluoma and Jeremiah Morren with a time of 1:26.47, regaining their title in that event after losing it last year to Cleveland State. The women came back in the 800 freestyle relay and claimed a Horizon League title with a time of 7:21.25 thanks to the team of Patricia Aschan, Arynn de Leeuw, Alysse Fischer and Holly Morren. The men's team that consisted of Kiviluoma, Eriksson, Andrew Binder and Jacob Pearson also claimed a league title with a time of 6:32.30.
Day two of the championships will begin tomorrow at 11 a.m. ET with prelims and continue with finals at 6:30 p.m. E.T.
