Oakland Track and Field Heads to YSU National Invitational

The two-day meet begins Friday at 3 p.m. and continues Saturday at 8 a.m.

John Nemens enters his 12th season as the assistant coach of the Golden Grizzlies men's cross country team in 2008. Nemens is no stranger to the OU cross country program, running in the Oakland program two years in 1992 and 1993.

Nemens was a two-time All-GLIAC runner for the OU cross country team. Prior to his stint with OU cross country, Nemens was a two-time junior college All-American at Macomb Community College (1990-91).

The Sterling Heights resident graduated from Oakland in 1997. Nemens is currently a Detroit police officer and has been since 1995. He graduated from the Macomb County Police Academy in 1994.
