FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Competing in the long jump for the first time, Andrew Storm placed first with a mark of 22 ft., 1.5 in. while Mary Moore placed second in the weight throw with a school record toss of 50 ft., 4 in. to lead the Oakland track and field team at the Fort Wayne Duals on Saturday. Kenton Rivard also won the shot put (50 ft., 4.75 in.) while Maggie Schneider took home the 3000m crown (9:54.61.)
Napoleon Outlaw won the 60m (7:07) followed by Joe McCarthy in second (7.12). Andrew Bowman won his second consecutive 3000m (8:29.03) while the 4x400 relay team also finished first (3:21.78). Jimmie Williams (22.94) and Keenan Jones (1:59.87) finished second in the 200m and 800m respectively helping the men's team to a 6-1 overall dual mark.
On the women's side, Chanel Gardner won her third consecutive 200m event (25.54) while Andriana Smith claimed the 60m (7.75) followed by Madaline Hall (7.95) in second. Whitney Mergens also placed second in the high jump (5 ft., 5.75 in.) and the long jump (16 ft., 10.75 in.). Madison Leigh placed second in the 1-mile (5:04.00) as the women's team finished with a 8-1 overall dual mark.
Oakland heads to the SVSU Jets Pizza Invite on Fri.-Sat., Jan. 26-27.
