OAKLAND CLAIMS FOUR TITLES ON OPENING DAY AT INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

Day 1 Results

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Bryce Stroede (14:34.96) and Miranda Haas (17:36.67) each captured 5000m crowns while the men's distance medley team of George O'Connor, Zach Joyce, Cameron Karagitz and Andrew Bowman (10:03.31) and women's team of Kailey Weingartz, Elizabeth Girardot, Courtney Stauffer and Ashley Burr (12:22.17) each claimed titles to cap off the best first day of competition in program history at the 2016 HL Indoor Championships.

Nicholas Girodat broke the 60m school record during prelims with a time of 6.81. Sammy Mondry (17:42.40) placed second in the 5000m with Kaitlin Catania (17:52.48) placing fifth. Michael Cox (14:55.79) also finished fifth in the 5000m.

Dana Tessmer (11 ft.,9.75 in.) placed third in the Pole Vaut while Brandon Davis (22 ft., 5.25 in.) placed sixth in the long jump. Hayley MacDonald also placed sixth in the Pentathlon with 3217 points.
