TESSMER BREAKS POLE VAULT RECORD ON DAY 1 OF SVSU JET'S PIZZA INVITE

SAGINAW, Mich. - Dana Tessmer broke her own pole vault school record and 13 student-athletes advanced to tomorrow's finals at the first day of the Saginaw Valley State University Jet's Pizza Invite.

Tessmer placed third in pole vault with a mark of 11 ft., 11.25 in., breaking her school record of 11 ft., 9.75 that she set last season. Tyler Sirut placed second in the weight throw (55 ft., 3 in.) and Tyler Beeson finished third (52 ft., 10 in.). Brandon Davis recorded a second place finish in the long jump (22 ft., 5.25 in.) and Whitney Mergens placed fifth in long jump (16 ft., 8.75 in.).

The Black and Gold will return to the SVSU Fieldhouse tomorrow for the final day of the invite beginning at 11 a.m.
