ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland men's and women's track and field teams will head to Ann Arbor, Mich. on Friday, Feb. 16 to compete in the University of Michigan Silverston Invitational beginning at 1 p.m.
This will be the first time Oakland Track and Field steps foot into Michigan's brand-new indoor track building which was unveiled in November of 2017.
At the GVSU Big Meet last weekend, Maggie Schneider broke the school record in the 5000m with a time of 16:36.85, placing third at the meet. In addition, Andrew Bowman placed first in the mile with a time of 4:11.54.
Oakland also had strong performances from Madison Leigh who placed second in the mile (5:00.04), Andrea Koenigsknecht who finished third in the 800m (2:17.03), Olivia Kane who placed fourth in the pole vault (10 ft., 8.75 in.), and Andrew Storm who finished fourth in the 60m hurdles (8.34).
Select field athletes competed at the Tiffin Grand Prix while the rest of the team finished up their events at The Big Meet. Notable performances came from Mary Moore and Gabby Cyriax, who came in third (49 ft., 11 in.) and fourth (49 ft., 8.25 in.) respectively in the weight throw.
