ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland men's and women's track and field teams will head to Youngstown, Ohio on Saturday, Feb. 24 to compete in the Horizon League Indoor Championships, hosted by Youngstown State. Competition begins Saturday at 9 a.m.
At the championships last season, Oakland tallied ten first place finishes, as the men came in second place overall and the women finished in third. The women's 4x400 relay team of Andrea Koenigsknecht, Lydia Stanley, Sydney Sterling and Chanel Gardner finished with a time of 3:52.28 placing first and setting a school record.
Other noticeable performance came from Corey Goodloe who took first in the 400m (48.84), Bryce Stroede who finished first in the mile (4:09.23) and Lydia Stanley who placed first in the 800m (2:14.25).
At the Michigan Silverston Invitation last weekend, Kenton Rivard II recorded a 6th place finish in the weight throw (54 ft., 6.75 in.) while Tyler Beeson came in 7th place in the shot put (51 ft., 0.75 ft.). On the women's side, Kendell Jefferson placed 12th in the 200m (25.69) while Jessica Krone and Odette Ingall came in 15th (1:02.92) and 16th (2:37.55) in the 800m, respectively.
