NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Andrew Bowman and Ashley Burr led the Oakland men's and women's cross country teams to a 10th and 15th place finish at the 59th Annual Notre Dame Invitational held at the Notre Dame Golf Course on Friday. Bowman paced the Golden Grizzles with a time of 24:40.6 in the men's 5 mile followed by Jacob Bowman who finished 28th at 24:53.8 while Burr finished 19th in the women's 5K at 24:40.6. Chris Scott and Lydia Stanley were the top Oakland finishers in the men's 5 mile JV and women's 5K JV placing 57th and 74th respectively.
"Very proud of how this group ran today," said head coach Paul Rice. "Many of our athletes ran lifetime bests today. The course was a bit soggy but our times were still very fast. This should set us up nice for another great race in two weeks at the Bradley Invite. We will put in another solid two week cycle now and start prepping for the big races still to come."
The men's team recorded 276 points to finish 10th out of 23 teams with three runners in the top-60 and six in the top-100 out of 181 total entries.
On the women's side, Oakland totaled 349 points placing 15th out of 27 teams with three runners in the top-60 out of 216 runners.
Both teams will compete at the Michigan Intercollegiate on Friday, Oct. 10 followed by the Bradley Invite on Oct. 17th.
