ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland men's and women's cross country teams will serve as the host of the 2017 Horizon League Cross Country Championships (10/28), and will open the season with the annual Golden Grizzlies Open (9/1), announced by head coach Paul Rice on Thursday. The conference championship meet will take place on Katke-Cousins Golf Course on campus.
Oakland will host Central Michigan on Oct. 6 in a dual meet in a short course event. The CMU competition and Golden Grizzlies Open will take place on the corner of Walton and Adams Road, on the campus of Oakland University. The three home meets are the most in any single season for the Golden Grizzlies.
Returning for the Golden Grizzlies are 2016 Horizon League individual champions Rachel Levy and Bryce Stroede. Levy led Oakland to its second consecutive Horizon League title last season, while Stroede became the first individual men's Horizon League champion.
