ELMHURST, Ill. - Oakland women's cross country runner Brittni Hutton was named The Summit League's Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week in the final award of the season, announced the league office on Tuesday. This is the third weekly Summit League award of the season for Hutton.
She garners the award after setting the 6K school record and recording the fastest league time this season. The Highland, Mich. native, finished fifth out of 222 runners at the Bradley Classic with a 6K time of 21:09, amongst competition from six regionally-ranked teams: Illinois (No. 4 - Midwest), Northwestern (No. 5 - Midwest), Bradley (No. 9 - Midwest), Purdue (No. 11 - Great Lakes), Marquette (No. 12 - Great Lakes) and Illinois State (No. 15 - Midwest).
Hutton and the rest of the Oakland men's and women's cross country teams will be competing in The Summit League Championships, hosted by Oakland, on Oct. 27 at Katke-Cousins Golf Course beginning at 10 a.m.
