ELMHURST, Ill. - Oakland's Brittni Hutton was named to The Summit League Cross Country Academic All-League Team, as voted on by the nine institution's faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors. A combined 16 student-athletes, nine men and seven women, were named to the two teams and honored for their combined athletic and academic performances this season.
Hutton was named the Summit League Championship MVP last weekend as she won the individual league title with a time of 21:49.8. She became only the second Oakland athlete to win The Summit League individual championship, the first since Kristie Kieffer won in 2003 and 2000. She was named Summit League Cross Country Athlete of the Week three times this season was broke the school record in the 6K with a time of 21:09 at the Bradley Classic, the best time in the league this season. Hutton is a communications major who holds a 3.48 GPA and is the head of Student Video Productions on campus.
Both the men's and women's cross country teams will be in action on Friday Nov. 9 as they travel to the University of Wisconsin to compete in the NCAA Great Lakes Regionals at Zimmer Championship Course starting at 1 p.m. ET.
