After a Zach Sterry triple in the sixth inning, Myles Zilinsky drove him in with a ground ball to second base to tie the game at 2-2. Three batters later, Ben Hart hit a RBI-single to give Oakland its first lead of the game.
ISU responded with a run in the seventh and eighth inning to regain the lead heading into the top of the ninth where Trovinger tied the game again with a two-out RBI-single.
