Late Runs Spell Defeat for Oakland
Four Golden Grizzlies have two hits each.

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Freshman Todd Dunham, junior Aaron Wick and sophomores John Estes and Tim Ryan all had two hits each as the Oakland University baseball team (3-13) lost 10-3 to Michigan State (16-4) Sunday afternoon at McLane Stadium.
Michigan State used two hits and an error to score twice in the bottom of the first inning. In the top of the third, Estes singled through the right side and moved to second on a single down the left field line by Dunham.
Ryan stepped in the box and walloped a triple to left center field to score Estes and Dunham. Following a ground out, junior Ryan Waldhart lifted a deep fly to left field. Ryan tagged up after the catch to give the Golden Grizzlies the lead 3-2.
The Spartans came back with three runs in the bottom of the third to make it 5-3. MSU scored five runs in the sixth and seventh inning to seal the game.
Ryan finished the day with two hits, scored a run and drove in two runs while Wick had his fourth double of the season. Sophomore Connor Mielock (0-3) gave up 13 hits, nine runs, seven of them earned and walked two in five and 2/3rd innings of work. The OU bullpen gave up four hits, one run, walked one and struck out four batters in two and 2/3rd innings on the mound.
Oakland remains on the road, Tuesday, Mar. 30, taking on Western Michigan. The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
