ROCHESTER, Mich. - Sophomore Nolan Jacoby drove in the game-winning run as Oakland University (14-27) beat Toledo (24-23) 6-5 in 12 innings on Tuesday at the OU Baseball Field. It is the second game-winning hit for Jacoby in a one-week span, following his walk-off home run to beat Western Michigan on Wednesday.

With runners on the corners and one out in the 12th inning, Jacoby hit a ground ball to first base. The Toledo player threw the ball home, but it was not in time to beat senior Ryan Waldhart who slid in safely to win the game.

It was a back-and-forth game and Oakland overcame a two-run deficit on two separate occasions. Trailing 4-2 in the eighth inning, the Golden Grizzlies scored three runs to take the lead. Senior Aaron Wick started the rally with an RBI-double. Junior Aaron Cieslak followed with an RBI single and Jacoby brought in the go-ahead run on sacrifice fly.

In the ninth inning, Toledo rallied with a pair of two-out hits. Chris Dudics single up the middle scored pinch runner Jim Vahalik, who was able to slide in just ahead of the throw from center field. Oakland's senior reliever Jake Arendsen (2-0) responded by striking out Jeff Cola to end the inning. Despite giving up a run Arendsen struck out the side in the ninth inning.

After blowing the save chance in the ninth inning, Arendsen settled down and did not allow another hit. He pitched the final four innings for Oakland and struck out four batters en route to earning his second win of the season. Reliever Tyler Scott (0-1) suffered the loss for Toledo, giving up two hits.

Toledo scored twice in the second inning to take the early lead over Oakland. However, Cieslak drove in runs in both the second and fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2. Oakland outhit Toledo 12-8.

Cieslak was 3-for-6 with three RBIs to lead OU's offensive effort. Senior D.J. Jarrad was 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Wick and sophomore Mike Carson each went 2-for-5. Waldhart was 1-for-3 and scored two runs.

For Toledo, catcher A.J. Demarco was 2-for-3 with an RBI., while Mark Lapikas went 2-for-4. Jason Edwards was 1-for-2 on the day, with a two-RBI double in the second inning that gave Toledo the early lead.

Oakland returns to action with a pivotal four-game Summit League series at Southern Utah. The first game of the series will start on Thursday at 5 p.m. ET.
