OAKLAND FALLS TO UIC 8-0 IN HORIZON LEAGUE TOURNAMENT

CHICAGO -- Right-handed pitcher Conor Bowers threw 5.0 innings of relief allowing one earned run and striking out three batters as the Oakland baseball team was shutout by No. 1 seed UIC 8-0 Thursday afternoon at Curtis Granderson Stadium. Tyler Pagano finished the game going 2-for-4 and Tyler Janish went 1-for-3 with a double.

The Flames scored a run in the bottom of the first inning to take an early lead then exploded for six runs in the third, while adding an additional run in the seventh inning. Horizon League Pitcher of the Year Jake Dahlberg took the mound and threw 7.0 scoreless innings for the Flames (37-15).

The Golden Grizzlies (16-39) will face the loser of No. 2 Wright State and No. 3 Northern Kentucky tonight at 8 p.m. ET in an elimination game. The game will be streamed live on ESPN3.
