2018 Oakland Baseball Schedule
ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Oakland baseball team announced its 2018 schedule highlighted with road contests at Kentucky, VMI and Purdue along with a game against in-state foe Central Michigan at Comerica Park.
“We are excited about the opportunity to compete against these great programs,” said Co-Head Coach Jacke Healey. “This high caliber of competition will make us better and prepare us for postseason play.”
Oakland opens the non-conference portion of the season with a road swing in Kissimmee, Fla. against Pittsburgh (Feb. 16, 18), Old Dominion and Iowa (Feb. 17). The Golden Grizzlies also play all three in-state Mid-American Conference schools with home-and-home games against Eastern Michigan (Apr. 10, May 8), Central Michigan (Apr. 11, 24) and at Western Michigan (Apr. 17). Oakland also will play a marquee game against CMU at Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers, in downtown Detroit (Apr. 25).
The Golden Grizzlies open Horizon League play at Wright State (Mar. 16-18) followed by defending league champions UIC (Mar. 23-25). Oakland will host Milwaukee in home opening series action (Mar. 29-31) followed by Youngstown State (Apr. 6-8), Wright State (Apr. 20-22), Northern Kentucky (Apr. 27-29) and UIC (May 11-13).
Oakland finished the 2017 season winning two games in the Horizon League Tournament for the first time in school history and also won its first league tournament game since 2012.
