OAKLAND PICKED SIXTH IN HORIZON LEAGUE PRESEASON POLL

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Oakland baseball team was picked to finish sixth in the 2017 Horizon League Baseball Preseason Poll announced by the league office on Tuesday and voted on by the league's head coaches. The Golden Grizzlies received 16 overall points.

Oakland is coming off a 23-27 season in 2016 that included a league record of 11-14, finishing fifth. All-league selections Ben Hart (3B, 2nd team) and Ryan Fitzgerald (OF, Freshman) return along with fellow starters Tyler Pagano (OF), Zach Sterry (1B), Myles Zilinksy (OF) and Matt DiLeo (C). The Golden Grizzlies will begin the 2017 season under the new regime of co-head coaches Colin Kaline and Jacke Healey, who took over the program in July 2016, becoming the first co-head coaches in Division I.
