ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Oakland baseball team opens the 2018 season against Pittsburgh for the first of four games at the Sunshine State Series in Kissimmee, Fla. on Friday, Feb. 16 at 3 p.m. The Golden Grizzlies also play Old Dominion and Iowa on Saturday and Pittsburgh for a second time on Sunday.

Oakland was picked to finish fifth in the 2018 Horizon League Baseball Preseason Poll announced by the league office on Feb. 7.

Last season, Oakland went 11-19 in league play during the regular season and 2-2 in the Horizon League Tournament marking the second time in the Division I era the Golden Grizzlies won multiple conference tournament games since 2000 as members of the Summit League.

All-League Second Team selection Emerson Misch and All-Freshman Team selection Tyler Trovinger return to the team along with All-Tournament Team member Matt DiLeo. Misch (.319) and DiLeo (.264) ranked third and fourth on the team in hitting respectively.

On the mound, staff ace Jake Lee returns after finishing his junior season striking out 86 batters which led the Horizon League and was the second-most in a single season in Oakland history. All-Academic team selection Nate Schweers also returns after ranking second on the team in saves (3).
