GOLDEN GRIZZLIES BATTLE NORSE AND PENGUINS IN DOUBLEHEADERS THIS WEEKEND
May 11, 2017

Game Notes

ROCHESTER, Mich.
-- The Oakland baseball team will travel to Northern Kentucky for a doubleheader Friday beginning at 12 p.m., then host Youngstown State Sunday for another doubleheader at 12 p.m. Both games Friday will be streamed live on ESPN3 as well as the first game of Sunday's twinbill.

Oakland defeated Western Michigan 3-0 on May 10 at the Oakland Baseball Field behind a stellar outing from Tyler Palm who threw 6.0 shutout innings allowing just three hits and striking out three batters. With the 7-0 win against Valparaiso on May 7, the Golden Grizzlies recorded back-to-back shutout wins for the first time since 1997.

Northern Kentucky is on a three-game losing streak and is looking to gain separation in the league standings being in third-place, just one game ahead of Oakland. The Norse rank first in the league in home runs as T.J. Alas is tied with Youngstown State's Andrew Kendrick for the league lead. NKU has three players rank inside the top-seven among Horizon League home run hitters.

Youngstown State dropped a 3-2 loss in 10 innings to Pittsburgh on May 10 and have lost five of its last six games. The Penguins will clash with NKU for a doubleheader on Saturday before heading to Rochester to close out their Horizon League regular season.
