INDIANAPOLIS -- Outfielder Ryan Fitzgerald has been named Horizon League Batter of the Week announced by the league office Monday after hitting .500 last weekend in three games against Northern Kentucky May 18-20.
Fitzgerald, a sophomore from Mount Vernon, Ohio, went 6-for-12 scoring seven runs, hitting two doubles, one home run and driving in five RBIs with a slugging percentage of .917 while also going a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen bases. He also drew a walk and was hit by a pitch twice, owning an on-base percentage of .600.
The Golden Grizzlies will be the No. 5 seed in the Horizon League Tournament beginning Wednesday, May 24, hosted by UIC, and will face No. 4 seed Valparaiso at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN3. Oakland won three of its five games against the Crusaders this season.
