GOLDEN GRIZZLIES TUSSLE WITH CRUSADERS IN LEAGUE TOURNAMENT

ROCHESTER, Mich.
-- The No. 5 seed Oakland baseball team will face No. 4 seed Valparaiso in the 2017 Horizon League Tournament, hosted by UIC, Wednesday May 24 at 1 p.m. ET.

Oakland concluded the regular season at home in a three-game series against Northern Kentucky May 18-20, dropping all three games by a combined four runs. Ryan Fitzgerald was named Horizon League Batter of the Week for his performance against the Norse, hitting .500 (6-for-12), scoring seven runs, hitting two doubles, one home run and driving in five RBIs with a slugging percentage of .917 while also going a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen bases. The Golden Grizzlies won three of its five games against the Crusaders this season, hitting .305 with nine home runs and scoring 44 runs.

Valparaiso ended its regular season with a 5-4 win over Milwaukee on May 18 in a rain-shortened series. The Crusaders won thanks to a bases-loaded walk by Christian Barczi in the bottom of the ninth after the Panthers tied the game in the top of the frame, but the Crusaders drew four ninth-inning walks to squeak by with the win.
