ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Jalen Hayes recorded his Horizon League-leading ninth double-double of the season by scoring 30 points and grabbing 11 rebounds as the Oakland men's basketball team defeated Cleveland State 81-68 Friday night at the O'rena.
Hayes, who was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line, notched his third 30-point game of his career, all of which have come this season.
Kendrick Nunn dished out a career high eight assists and scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half, including five three-pointers.
Martez Walker scored 11 points and was 3-for-4 of from the charity stripe. He has made 16 of his last 17 free throws.
Trailing, 32-29 at halftime, the Golden Grizzlies shot 73 percent in the second half on 19 of 26 shooting from the floor and seven of nine from beyond the arc to outscore the Vikings 52-36. It was just the second time this season Oakland earned a victory after trailing at halftime.
The Golden Grizzlies, who came into the game ranking fourth nationally in total assists, had 25 assists on 30 field goals made after putting up 27 assists on 34 field goals on Jan. 10. Nunn, Brailen Neely and Nick Daniels all dished out seven assists or more.
Oakland will hit the road for a four-game road trip next, taking on UIC in Chicago Jan. 15 at 8 p.m. ET.
