ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Martez Walker led all players with 21 points while grabbing five rebounds plus recorded four assists and tied a career high three steals as the Oakland men's basketball team fell to UIC 79-73 Friday night at the O'rena.
Walker, who registered his ninth 20-point game of the season, also held UIC's leading scorer Dikembe Dixson to zero points on the night.
Kendrick Nunn scored 13 of his 20 points in the second half and went a career best 13-for-16 from the free throw line. His 13 free throws is the most made by an Oakland player this season.
Jalen Hayes scored 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds while tying a season high four steals. The senior forward also tied a career high three blocks.
The loss marked the first time the Golden Grizzlies dropped a regular season contest to UIC and snapped Oakland's five game winning streak against the Flames.
The Golden Grizzlies will return to action Sunday, Feb. 4 against league-newcomer IUPUI with tip-off scheduled for Noon on ESPN3 and TV20.
