ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Martez Walker scored 16 of his 27 points in the second half on 10 of 13 shooting, including six of nine from beyond the arc as the Oakland men’s basketball team defeated New Orleans (0-2) Monday night at the O’rena. The 10 made field goals by Walker was a career high as was his six three-pointers, while he matched a career high seven rebounds.
Kendrick Nunn added 24 points and was six-for-10 from the three point line and dished out another six assists plus two blocks. Isaiah Brock scored in double-digits with 10 points on five of six shooting and has only missed one shot in his first two games this season (nine-for-10).
After handing out six assists in the season opener, Brailen Neely added seven tonight as Oakland (2-0) registered 23 assists on 33 field goals made.
The Golden Grizzlies have started the season 2-0 after doing the same in 2016-17, marking just the second time in the Division I era Oakland has had back-to-back 2-0 starts (2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons). The team will face its first road test of the season Saturday Nov. 18 at Toledo live on ESPN3 at 7 p.m.
