ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Jalen Hayes scored a career high 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, shooting a career best 12-for-14 from the field, as the Oakland men's basketball team defeated Chicago State 82-50 Saturday afternoon at the O'rena. Hayes' has now recorded five straight double-doubles.
Freshmen Stan Scott scored a career high 15 points and grabbed five rebounds and three steals. His 15 points were the most by an Oakland freshmen this season.
Oakland (6-4) had 10 players score in the game and have now won four straight meetings over the Cougars (2-10).
The men's basketball team and Oakland University Athletics honored longtime athletic trainer Tom Ford, who stepped away from his duties in May after being diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Ford was honored at halftime with a custom chair, where he sat next to Greg Kampe for 30 years, as well as his named engraved on the court.
Oakland will take on No. 3 Michigan State next at Little Caesars Arena as part of the 2017 Hitachi College Basketball Showcase.
