OAKLAND COMES UP SHORT AGAINST NO. 2 SPARTANS 86-73

DETROIT -- Kendrick Nunn scored a game high 32 points while dishing out a career high seven assists as the Oakland men's basketball team came up short against No. 2 Michigan State 86-73 Saturday afternoon at Little Caesars Arena. The matchup between the Golden Grizzlies (6-5) and Spartans (10-1) drew the largest crowd in the history of Little Caesars Arena (20,695).

Also in double figures were Jalen Hayes and Martez Walker who scored 14 and 13 points respectively. Walker scored all of his points in the second half and recorded two four-point plays in the game.

Tom Cotter came off the bench and led the team with eight rebounds, while scoring three points and playing 17 minutes, all career highs.

The Golden Grizzlies trailed 72-68 with 4:28 remaining, then the Spartans went on a 14-5 run to close out the contest.

Oakland will return to action on Dec. 20 at the O'rena against Towson at 7 p.m. on ESPN3.
