MILWAUKEE -- Kendrick Nunn matched a career high 36 points on 12 of 21 shooting and hit five three pointers as the Oakland men's basketball team held off Milwaukee 76-68 to open league play Thursday night at UWM Panther Arena. Nunn's 12 field goals made is a career high as the Golden Grizzlies are now 17-2 in its last 19 conference road games and improve to 4-1 in Horizon League openers.
Defensively, Isaiah Brock led Oakland (9-5, 1-0 HL) with 11 rebounds and a season high six blocks while adding eight points on 4 of 4 shooting.
Nick Daniels filled the scoresheet by scoring six points and dishing out a career high eight assists while recording four rebounds and two steals. Oakland has now won four of the last five meetings against the Panthers (7-7, 0-1 HL).
Martez Walker scored 14 points and grabbed four rebounds while Jalen Hayes added 10 points and five rebounds.
The Golden Grizzlies will continue league play on the road at Green Bay Saturday, Dec. 30 at 1 p.m. ET inside the Resch Center.
