Oakland Cruises to 78-66 Win Over Valpo
Martez Walker scored 25 points and Oakland never trailed in a 78-66 victory over Valparaiso on Friday night. Walker was 8 of 14 from the floor and made four 3-pointers. Stevie Clark had 16 points and five assists for Oakland (13-3, 3-0 Horizon League). Jalen Hayes added 12 points. Alec Peters scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Valparaiso (11-4, 1-1). Peters has scored 20 or more in 15 of 17 games, and has nine double-doubles. Jaume Sorolla had 11 points and Shane Hammink chipped in 10 for the Crusaders.

ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland takes on Valparaiso in a nationally televised game on ESPN2 at 7 p.m. ET on the Blacktop at the O'rena Friday night. Fans can also hear the game on WDFN-AM (1130) or on their smartphone with the iHeart radio app.

The Golden Grizzlies (19-7, 9-4) have won four straight games while the Crusaders (21-5, 11-2) are on a two-game winning streak. Greg Kampe will coach his 1,000th game on Friday, 12th-best among current Division I head coaches.

Oakland has teamed up with Beyond Basics in hosting a book drive at the remaining three home basketball games, starting Friday, Feb. 17. Fans are encouraged to bring in new or gently used children's book for grades K-5.
