ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland (16-14, 10-5) will host Fort Wayne (14-16, 6-9) on Saturday in the regular-season finale inside the Athletics Center O'rena. Game time is set for 6 p.m. ET and the Golden Grizzlies will honor seniors Drew Valentine and Jordan Howenstine before the game.
OU has won five straight games inside the O'rena and are 10-1 this season. The Golden Grizzlies have won seven of their last eight league games, with the lone loss coming at IPFW (77-71) last Wednesday.
Oakland will be the No. 3 or 4 seed at The Summit League tournament (March 9-12) in Sioux Falls, S.D. With a win on Saturday and a North Dakota State (11-4) loss at Omaha (6-9), the Golden Grizzlies would get the No. 3 seed due to a tiebreaker against the Bison (OU went 1-1 vs. #2 WIU, while NDSU was 0-2).
The Golden Grizzlies finished the month of February with a record of 6-1. The Golden Grizzlies are 31-4 over the last five years in February, only behind Weber State's 32-4 mark for tops in the country.
Oakland continues to win close games this season, posting a 6-0 record in contests decided by 3 or less points. The Grizzlies picked up an overtime win over Morehead State, 82-79, last Saturday night in the ESPN BracketBusters game.
The Black and Gold have an impressive 13-1 record in regular-season finales inside the O'rena. The only loss came in 2006, to UMKC, 84-81.
