ROCHESTER, Mich. - Redshirt freshman Kyle Sikora has decided to transfer and leave the Oakland basketball team, announced by Greg Kampe on Tuesday. Sikora started in 16 of 33 games played in this past season, leading the team with 23 blocked shots, 12th-best in The Summit League.
"I would like to thank Oakland University and their coaching staff for the opportunities they have given me to develop as a player," said Sikora. "I've decided to pursue other opportunities because of personal reasons and I hope to end up somewhere closer to home. This team is a close knit group of guys and I only hope the best for them in the future."
Sikora, a native of Key Largo, Fla., redshirted in 2010-11 and became a regular starter about midway through this season. He blocked a season-high four shots on two occasions against IPFW (1/14 and 2/11) and tallied a career-best nine points versus South Dakota (12/1).
