ROCHESTER, Mich. -- The Oakland men’s basketball team will host Fort Wayne at 7 p.m. at the Blacktop at the O’rena for its home opener sponsored by Lyft. The game will be televised on TV20, Comcast 900 and can be seen on ESPN3. The match-up can also be heard on WDFN-AM (1130) with Neal Ruhl (pxp) and Matt Dery (analyst) on the call.

Friday is Night of Champions at the O’rena, where Oakland will celebrate its student-athletes and their accomplishments. Fans will also be able to get a free limited edition Top Gun themed poster and men’s basketball team poster.

Martez Walker averaged 17.3points per game, shooting 59 percent from the field and 46 from beyond the arc.

> The Golden Grizzlies are 12-5 in home openers in the DI era and have won six of their past seven openers.

> The Golden Grizzlies are one of sixteen teams in the NCAA to return over 70 percent of its points and rebounds. Northern Kentucky is the only other Horizon League team to do so.
