OU's Benson Tabbed Player of the Week
The junior center earns the honor for the second time this season.

ELMHURST, Ill. - Oakland University's Keith Benson was named The Summit League Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. Benson, a junior from Farmington Hills, Mich., averaged 22.0 points per game, 14.5 rebounds per game and 3.5 blocks per game last week and earns the weekly honor for the second time this year.
A 6-11 center, Benson posted a double-double in a tough loss at No. 12 Michigan State (88-57) on Thursday, Dec. 10, with a game-high 21 points and 11 rebounds. He then led the Golden Grizzlies to a much needed win over Mid-Major No. 25 Green Bay (72-56) with 23 points, a career-high 18 rebounds and blocked six shots for another double-double.
His performance on Sunday was dubbed `Mid-Major Stud of the Night' on foxsports.com by Jeff Goodman, senior basketball writer. He now has a league-leading six double-doubles and pushed his career total to 17, a new school record for the Division I era.
Benson and the Grizzlies will head out west to face Seattle University (Dec. 17) and the University of Oregon (Dec. 19).
