ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland's Blake Cushingberry was ruled academically ineligible, announced by men's basketball head coach Greg Kampe on Wednesday. Cushingberry, a redshirt junior, will not be able to participate on the team for the rest of the year.
"First of all we are very disappointed to lose Blake (Cushingberry) at this point of the season," said Kampe. "It hurts us that he will not be able to finish the season.
"It's sad because he is just 22 hours from graduation. I feel bad for Blake, but Oakland University is committed to this young man attaining his degree."
A 6-foot-3 inch guard, Cushingberry played in the first 10 games this season, starting four of them, averaging 2.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.
