BATAVIA, Ohio -- Connor Jones and Thomas Giroux shot a final round score of 69 (-2) as the Oakland men's golf team placed runner-up at the NKU Fall Classic Monday afternoon held at Elks Run Golf Club (par 71, 6,845 yards).
Jones, who recorded a hole-in-one on hole 12, also matched a career-low for a single round as he finished the tournament at 221 (+8), tied for 16th with Giroux who made his Oakland debut. Jake Kneen finished highest for the Golden Grizzlies, tying for fourth place at 216 (+3). Oakland shot the best round of the day and was the only team to shoot under par, carding a 281 (-3), good for the third-lowest team round in the tournament's history.
Oakland will return to action Oct. 2-3 at the Cleveland State Invitational
