Men???s Golf Sixth after First Day at Hal Sutton Invitational
Monday Results Bossier City, La. (Apr. 2, 2007) ???C Oakland???s men???s golf team opened play today at the Hal Sutton Invitational with an 36-hole score of 603, shooting consistent rounds of 301 and 302 that placed the Golden Grizzlies sixth in a field of 12 teams. Oakland is just eight shots behind McNeese State for fifth and trails leader Louisiana-Lafayette by 19 strokes entering tomorrow???s final round. Senior Rob Reynolds (Waterford, Mich.) shot a two-round score of 145 to lead Oakland. Reynolds' turned in rounds of 72 and 73 to account for his 145 which is tied for fifth in the individual standings and is just seven shots away from first-place in the standings. Finishing just two strokes behind Reynolds today was freshman Frank McAuliffe (Ann Arbor, Mich.), whose 147 (73-74) also has him in the top 10 in the standings, tying for the 10th spot. Senior Charles Kluesner (Terre Haute, Ind.) came in with rounds of 78 and 76 today, totaling a 154 to tie for 35th overall. Chad Elliott (Rochester, Mich.) finished another three strokes back with a 157 (78-79), tying for 45th in the field of 63 golfers. Nate Hendricks (Carlisle, Ontario) rounded out the scoring card for Oakland, finishing with a 167 (80-87) to place 60th on the leaderboard. Oakland will finish play at the tournament tomorrow with another round of 18 holes at the Golf Club at Stonebridge.
