2018 Men's Soccer Spring Schedule
ROCHESTER, Mich. - Oakland men's soccer head coach Eric Pogue announced the 2018 spring schedule beginning against defending Big Ten Conference regular season champion Michigan on Friday, March 9 at 7:45 p.m. inside the Oakland Sports Bubble. The spring campaign is also highlighted by the Golden Grizzlies competing in the 10th Annual Michigan Bucks College Challenge comprised of Butler, Notre Dame and Michigan State who each advanced to the 2017 NCAA Tournament and finished the season nationally ranked inside the top-20.
After U-M, the Golden Grizzlies continue with a match against Saginaw Valley State at the Oakland Sports Bubble on Friday, Mar. 16 at 7:45 p.m. The Cardinals finished runner-up in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) with a 13-4-2 record.
Oakland opens the Michigan Bucks College Challenge against Butler and Notre Dame at the Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac, Mich. on Sat., Mar. 24 at 1:55 p.m. and 5:05 p.m. respectively. Last season, Butler captured the Big East title finishing with a 14-5-2 record and No. 12 national ranking while Notre Dame was ranked No. 18 after finishing 11-7-2.
The Golden Grizzlies conclude the College Challenge against Michigan State on Friday, Mar. 30 at the Oakland Sports Bubble at 7:45 p.m. The Big Ten runner-up Spartans finished the season ranked No. 6 after advancing to the Elite 8 in the 2017 NCAA Tournament with a 13-3-4 mark.
Oakland completes the spring slate at the Michigan Bucks College Showcase against Western Michigan on Saturday, April 7 at the Ultimate Soccer Arenas at 2:05 p.m. The Broncos finished the season ranked No. 9 after winning the Mid-American Conference (MAC) title with a 17-4-2 mark advancing to third round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to MSU.
