ELMHURST, Ill. -- Oakland men's soccer player Matt Dudley was named Summit League Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. His teammate Joey Tinnion was tabbed Summit League Player of the Week by CollegeSportsMadness.com.
Dudley opened his Oakland account by scoring the match-winning goal in double-overtime as the Golden Grizzlies beat Duquesne, 2-1. He quickly netted his second goal of the season by scoring the opening goal of OU's 5-1 win over defending Summit League champions Western Illinois.
Dudley finished the week with two goals and four points, helping Oakland remain unbeaten at home and on top of The Summit League standings. The Golden Grizzlies have outscored league opponents 10-1 through the first two matches.
Tinnion netted twice against the Fighting Leathernecks of Western Illinois. His first strike was a hard-struck shot from the nearly 35 yards out that went into the top corner of the goal. For Tinnion the goals were also the first of his career.
The Golden Grizzlies are back in action on Wednesday with a match at Detroit, which kicks off at 3 p.m. from Titan Field.
