Women's Basketball vs. IUPUI

Oakland University women's basketball takes on IUPUI in the Athletic Center O'rena on January 7.

Associate head coach Eric Stephan completed his 10th season with the OU women's basketball team and his 28th season of working at Oakland since joining the athletic staff since 1987.

Stephan joined the women's staff at OU mid-way through the 2005-06 season, helping OU win the Mid-Con Championship and a trip to the NCAA Tournament in his first season. The team continued to succeed with Stephan on the bench, winning a regular season title and trip to the WNIT in the 2007 and 2009.

Now in his 28th year with Oakland University athletics, Stephan is no stranger to Oakland basketball fans. After 17 years as an assistant coach for Greg Kampe and the men's basketball team he also worked for two years as Oakland's Assistant AD for Operations, .

Stephan has been a part of Oakland's rich basketball history, including the men's team's Mid-Continent Conference title in 2000, the school's first eligible year as a NCAA Division I program. He has been on the bench with the men's program for key victories over Big 10 schools, Northwestern (60-41) and Michigan (97-90).

Stephan was a four-year letterwinner and team captain as a senior at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisc. where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. As a collegian, he also served as Chairman of the President's Advisory Committee and President of the Student Activities Board.

Stephan is also a member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. He resides in Rochester, Mich., is married to Lynn Stephan and has two sons, Nathan and Trenton, as well as a daughter Charlotte.
