OAKLAND'S SEASON COMES TO AN END IN HARD FOUGHT BATTLE AGAINST IUPUI

DETROIT - Leah Somerfield scored a team-high 13 points with eight rebounds, two steals and two blocks while Sha'Keya Graves added 10 points and four assists as No. 7 seed Oakland played No. 2 seed IUPUI down to the wire but fell short, 56-49, to end the season at 2018 Motor City Madness Horizon League Championships on Saturday.

Taylor Gleason added nine points with a game-high six assists while Nikita Telesford chipped in with seven points. Mercy Agwaniru also added two solid blocks.

Oakland fell behind by 16 points after a slow start in the first quarter offensively. However, the Golden Grizzlies turned up the pressure defensively in the second quarter holding IUPUI scoless for the final 4:50 while cutting the lead to six, 32-25, heading into halftime.

Oakland open the third quarter on a 7-0 run to pull within two points, 38-36, and later cut the deficit to one at 48-47 in the fourth but could not get over the hump down the stretch.
