ROCHESTER, Mich. - Sha'Keya Graves led Oakland with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting with four assists and a team-high six steals as the Golden Grizzlies defeated Illinois State, 64-43, in home opening action on Saturday. Defensively, Oakland forced 27 turnovers with 17 steals while holding the Red Birds to only nine points in the second and fourth quarter.
Taylor Gleason also scored 16 points with six assists and five steals while Cierra Bond chipped in with 11 points. Chloe Guingrich grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds with six points in her collegiate debut. Leah Somerfield also had 10 rebounds while Nikita Telesford posted a career-high three blocks.
Oakland travels to East Lansing, Mich. for a game against Michigan State on Monday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m.
