EAST LANSING, Mich. - Leah Somerfield scored a team-high 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting with six rebounds and two assists while Taylor Jones and Sha'Keya Graves each added 12 points as Oakland fell 95-63 at Michigan State on Monday night.
After trailing by only three points (20-17) at the end of the first quarter, the second quarter proved to be the difference as Oakland had trouble connecting from the field scoring 12 points. Conversely, MSU shot 58 percent scoring 29 points to take a 20 point lead into the half.
The Golden Grizzlies regrouped to outscore the Spartans 26-24 in the third but were held to eight points in the fourth.
Oakland continues its two-game road swing at Northwestern on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 8 p.m. ET.
