YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Leah Somerfield recorded her second consecutive double-double scoring 13 points with 11 rebounds (four offensive) while Taylor Gleason added a team-high 14 points as Oakland won its first league game of the season defeating Youngstown State, 58-48.

Oakland's dominance on the boards and 3-point field goal defense proved to be the difference as the Golden Grizzlies held a 45-30 rebounding advantage including 18 offensive rebounds which led to 16 second chance points. Oakland also held the Penguins to a season low 2-of-22 (nine percent) shooting from behind the arc.

Nikita Telesford (nine points) and Chloe Guingrich (three points) also grabbed four offensive rebounds each.

The Golden Grizzlies (8-5, 1-1 HL) open the new year against Wright State on the Blacktop at the O'rena on Thursday, Jan. 4 at 7 p.m.
