HARTFORD, Conn. -- Oakland (5-5) will take on No. 2/2 Connecticut (8-0) on Wednesday in the XL Center at 7 p.m. The Golden Grizzlies are facing a top 25 opponent for the second consecutive game.
Wednesday's contest will be the first televised game of the season for OU, airing on the SNY Network. Fans can check their local listing for game availability. The game will also be live webstreamed via the SNY Network, which requires a subscription purchase.
Victoria Lipscomb had 12 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals to lead three Oakland players in double-digits in OU's most recent game against No. 15/14 Purdue. Oakland eventually fell 77-46, but got 11 points from Elena Popkey and 10 from Annemarie Hamlet. Zakiya Minifee added five steals.
Oakland is facing the second-ranked team in the country for the second time in program history. The Black and Gold battled No. 2/2 Ohio State in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament in 2006. It is the 22nd time that OU has played a ranked opponent since joining the NCAA Division I ranks.
